Fat Tummy Buddha, also be named as Budai or the Laughing Buddha, was a monk who is often identified with and venerated as Maitreya Buddha in Zen Buddhism. In Japan, he goes by the name Hotei.
His large belly and sack are believed to represent abundance. Among the oriental culture, it has a say about his philosophy:
"A Fat Belly can tolerate the most intolerable matters in the world. Always be kind, smile in peace and guide rankling man to find calm."
